Website tutorial using iFrames!

Website with iFrames using a downgraded Freewebs account.

This tutorial will help you create a website using iFrames like this one here.

1. The first thing you need to do is create a layout using 3 sections. You can create more sections but for this tutorial we will need 3.

2. Now, using you freewebs site manager you need to create 5 pages named index.html, middle.html, right.html, left.html and style.css

3. Now that you have created these pages, open your index.html page. This is the page your layout will go on and also your iFrames for the middle section, left section and right section of your site.

4. On your index.html page, put this code:

5. Now here is where it may get tricky for some of you. You see the numbers where it says width, height and top and left in the code? Well you have to fix those yourself according to where it is on your layout. If your layout is bigger or smaller, change the numbers to whatever suits your layout. What this does is make sure the frames fit your layout sections I told you to create.

6. Now that you have created that, we need to edit the style.css, right, left and middle frames.

7. Open the middle.html. This is where your site updates will go. The only thing you have to write here is your updates and you can put pictures or anything here if you want. If you want to put links here to your site content use the link targeting I will show you in the next step.

8. Now open the right.html. This is where your site links will go such as home, content, about me, etc. In order for the links to open up in the middle frame you will have to target THEM. So your home link will look like this:

Otherwise your links will open up in pop-ups and we don't want that.

9. Now open the left.html. This section can be used for affies or anything else. Also, if you want to use this as a menu for some other links use the same link targeting effect as the one I have shown you above.

10. Now for the final step. The style.css page. Open this page and put this code in it:

11. You can edit this page using the colors you want. To find hex code colors click here. What this page does is changes the color of your text, scrollbar, etc to match your layout so you don't have to put those properties on every page. In order for this to work you HAVE to put this code on EVERY PAGE of your website when you edit it:

12. Well once you have done all of this your layout should be ready!! It's not that hard to create a wesbite using iframes and you can evern create more than 3! You can create 4, 5, 6, etc.

13. If you used this tutorial please link back to me, and also if you have any questions contact me here. If you want website tips click here and NO I WILL NOT MAKE THE LAYOUT FOR YOU!
